CEO, FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Julie founded Brownhouse Design in 2005 after a career in video and event production. She’s proud to have fostered BHD from a design table in her bedroom to the ever-growing company that exists today. She is always looking for ways to push herself and her team to do better work for their clients, and believes that there is no problem that cannot be solved. Julie spends her time outside of the office constantly adding what she claims to be the “final touches” to her home, going on early morning walks with her dogs, listening to podcasts and enjoying lazy Sunday brunch with her kids.

ARCHITECT

Dave has been in the industry for over twenty years, and joined Brownhouse in 2009 as one of the original members of the company. He graduated from Chico State University with a degree in Construction Management and the Option in Architectural Project Management, and specializes in designing high-end custom homes. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing for and managing baseball teams, reading books from the American canon and watching classic movies.

INTERIOR DESIGN ASSISTANT

Jenny has a BFA in recorded music from New York University and a BFA in interior design from Belmont University, and studied abroad at Regent’s University London. Prior to starting her interior design career, she spent a decade as a singer, songwriter and artistic manager in Nashville and New York City. She recently moved to the Bay with her partner and their two dogs, and is excited to hone her maximalist style. Roll Tide!

PROJECT MANAGER

Marcus has over two decades of experience in architecture and design, and before joining Brownhouse ran a design company specializing in design and management for custom residential projects. He prides himself on his management, customer service and specialized CAD skills as well as the imaginative touch he loves to bring to his work. When his nose isn’t buried in architectural plans, you can find Marcus spending time with his wife and two boys, golfing, hiking and camping- he loves the great outdoors as much as he does the great indoors.

SENIOR DESIGNER, PRODUCTION MANAGER

Nicole joined Brownhouse when she was still a student at West Valley College, and is happy to have found the perfect career fit immediately. She has since become an expert in sourcing and designing custom furniture, textiles and light pieces in order to create the perfect homes for our clients. She excels at creating and executing the details that pull our projects together. Nicole spends her free time wrangling her two kids and one husband, taking beach trips and camping in the mountains.

INTERIOR DESIGNER

Prior to joining the BHD team, Jemma worked for architecture and design firms around the world, specializing in luxury hospitality and residential projects. Her work has been published in Best Interiors Magazine and she takes great pride in creating bespoke furniture models, cabinet design and closet systems. Jemma has bachelor's degrees in mathematics, economics and interior design. When she’s not creating photorealistic renderings for our clients in 3D Max, you can find her exploring museums, art galleries and local flea markets.

DRAFTER

Javier has a bachelor’s degree in architectural design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco as well as an associate degree of Art in Architectural Design from Chabot College. Before Brownhouse, he worked in commercial and institutional architecture and is currently focusing on landscape and residential projects. While at Brownhouse, he’s been happy to integrate his architectural prowess with the creative aspects of interior design. Outside of the office, you can find Javier exploring new culinary traditions around the Bay as well as snowboarding and surfing as often as he can.
