Architectural Job Captain

Brownhouse Design is seeking a motivated and skilled job captain to join our talented and dynamic team in the San Francisco Bay area. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, be professional, self-motivated, and work in a team environment. This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with level of experience and skills.

Must be legally qualified to work in the United States.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent related field.

  • 4-6 years experience in a professional architecture firm.

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2018 or higher, MS Office, Google Docs and Sheets, and Sketchup.

  • A strong knowledge of Type V construction.

  • Strong organization and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to resolve technical issues, work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.

  • Preparation of complete design, permit submittal, and construction documents.

  • Progress towards a California Architect's license is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Lead Designer and Project Architect and assist with all aspects of a project.

  • Coordinate and lead development of documents through all stages of design.

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate junior staff and consultants for a coordinated set of construction documents.

  • Attend design meetings with office staff, clients, and vendors.

  • Responsible for adherence to office standards, development of details, and specifications.

  • Perform code analysis.

  • Interface with vendors, the jurisdiction with authority, manage and coordinate the plan check process.

Junior Designer

Brownhouse Design is seeking a motivated and skilled junior designer to join our talented and dynamic team in the San Francisco Bay area. The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, be professional, self-motivated, and work in a team environment. This is a full-time position. Salary is commensurate with level of experience and skills.

Must be legally qualified to work in the United States.

Requirements for this position include:

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or related field.

  • 1-5 years of residential design experience.

  • Experience sourcing high-level building materials, furnishing, textiles, etc. Commercial sourcing a plus.

  • Proficient using Google Drive, Sketchup or other modeling software. AutoCAD and/or Adobe creative suite a plus.

  • Strong detail-orientation, organization, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to resolve technical issues, work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.

  • Preparation of complete design, permit submittal, and construction documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, furniture systems, fabrics, equipment (FF&E), color palettes, and lighting

  • Generate design with 3D models, Revit, Sketchup or other software, create digital 3D view to communicate design concepts

  • Provide design support and documentation during completion and execution of design concepts.

  • Work with external consultants, product representatives, furniture dealers, and fabricators

  • Produce and maintain schedules and specifications for plumbing, lighting, finishes, furnishings, etc.

  • Work in a synergistic manner with other design and professional staff

  • Able to work on projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Assist Senior Designers with project preparation

  • Maintain design library and update samples as needed

  • Administrative duties as needed
